Martial arts makes strides in autism support 🥋

A meta-analysis of 23 randomised trials just dropped. It looked at the impact of physical exercise on kids with autism and the results are hard to ignore.

🏃‍♂️ Behavioural problems? Down by 67%.

🎯 Motor skills? Up by 47% in lower primary school kids.

🗣️ Social skills? Preschoolers made the biggest gains, with a 31% boost.

🧩 Even cognitive flexibility got a lift, especially in older students.

Out of the exercises studied, martial arts and ball games came out on top (for the love of God don’t let Joe Rogan pick up on this…). 8–12 weeks of consistent movement seemed to be the timeframe where results were seen, so it’s not something that can be written off after a week.

It’s not a cure. Not a miracle. But if you're shaping support strategies, exercise might be one of your strongest tools.

Morning coffee? Good. All-day coffee? Meh ☕

A massive new study has confirmed what early risers have always suspected: coffee is healthiest in the morning.

Researchers looked at over 40,000 people and found that those who sipped their brew in the a.m. were 16% less likely to die over a 10-year span and 31% less likely to die from heart-related issues.

But those who drank coffee all day showed zero benefit.

Scientists think morning coffee syncs better with our body clock and helps cut down inflammation.

So if you want coffee to actually do something for you, keep it in the a.m. and let the late-day lattes go.

Here’s why some protestors get so emotional 😡

Ever argued about politics and felt totally certain you were on the moral high ground? That certainty might not just be passion, it could be your brain firing on all cylinders.

A new brain scan study found that when people made decisions tied to moral beliefs (like choosing which protest group they support), areas like the anterior insula and prefrontal cortex lit up. These are zones linked with emotion, conflict, and decision-making.

People who made faster decisions on morally loaded topics showed more brain activity but those with lower metacognitive sensitivity (aka the ability to tell when you're wrong) had even stronger reactions.

This might shed light on why certain protestors react with such intense emotion and we can't work out why.

In everyday terms, if you can’t check your own blind spots, you’re more likely to double down on what feels right, whether it’s arguing on Facebook or voting at the polls.
